Gas and water monitoring

To comply with Awaba Waste Management Facility's Environment Protection Licence 5873, Council carries out water sampling and gas monitoring.

Water sampling is carried out quarterly at both surface and groundwater locations. This is to detect the presence of pollutants on site and to ensure they have not entered the surrounding watercourse.

Gas monitoring is carried out monthly on both building sites and intermediately capped waste areas. This is to establish if methane gas (gas produced through the decomposition of waste) is present on site.

Monitoring reports
