Activities for over 55s
There's a wide range of activities throughout the Lake Macquarie region which are suitable for older adults. Activities include:
- craft and hobby groups
- gentle exercise groups
- pensioner and senior clubs
- volunteer opportunities.

Over 55s program
The Lake Macquarie Over 55s Program has a focus on health, safety and wellbeing. It consists of information sessions and activities at various locations throughout the City.
The program operates between February and November, annually. All events are free for people aged 55 years and over, bookings are essential online or by calling 02 4921 0333.
May 2018 program
|Heart Week - staying active||Charlestown Swim Centre||Tuesday 1||Noon-1pm||Celebrate Heart Week. Come and enjoy an aqua fit class followed by some yummy hot soup. Aqua fit is a low to medium intensity exercise class in the heated pool. Participants are encouraged to work at their own pace and ability using water resistance to perform a variety of movements aimed at increasing fitness and flexibility.||To book, call 4921 0430.|

|Craft Club||Cardiff Library||Friday 4||10.30am-12.30pm||Bring a craft project to work on, share tips and enjoy a chat and cup of tea. Cardiff Craft Club is held on the first Friday of the month.||No need to book.|
|Facebook workshop||Toronto Library||Wednesday 9||11am-noon, 12.30-1.30pm or 2.30-3.30pm||A hands-on session to show you how to join Facebook, post status updates and share photos, websites and links. You will also learn about sending messages and security. You will need to bring your own device, and it must be set up and ready to use.||Book online for 11am-noon, 12.30-1.30pm or 2.30-3.30pm session.|
|Law Week event||Charlestown Library||Tuesday 15||1-2.30pm||Piano Forte is a video of a play written by Suncoast Community Legal Centre, brought to you by Legal Aid NSW and Senior Rights Service. Piano Forte explores issues older people and their families experience when planning for the future. The video screening will be followed by a discussion with local lawyers and seniors rights experts about issues raised in the video and questions from the audience.||Book at library.lakemac.com.au/events|

June 2018 program
|Over 55s yoga||Kilaben Bay Community Hall||Monday 4, 18, 25||11.45am-12.30pm||Over 55s yoga classes are specially adapted and modified to suit all individuals. Participants are encouraged to work to their own capability, comfortably and with ease. |Art of Fashion: 1920s evening gowns talk||Toronto Library||Wednesday 20||11am-noon||Join Cavalcade of Fashion on a journey to the 1920s, a decade of elegant fashion, liberated women and inspired designers, artists and artisans. Featured will be some of Cavalcade's finest beaded and embellished 1920s evening dresses and stunning capes.
