Playground at Shingle Splitters set for revamp

Date posted: 12 February 2018

The playground at Shingle Splitters Park, Balcolyn, will undergo a revamp from 12 Feburary as part of Council’s Playground Renewals Program.

Council’s Manager Asset Management, Helen Plummer, said the playground is expected to have new equipment such as a spider swing and infant swing, climbing structure and more. The improved facility will cater to children between the ages of two and 12 years old.

“Each year, Council renews up to four playgrounds, to ensure that our facilities continue to provide safe and engaging play spaces for children and families,” Ms Plummer said.

“Council thanks residents for their patience while these works are undertaken, the playground will be closed for about 8-10 weeks while replacement works are carried out.”

The playground is expected to reopen in early May 2018.

While construction takes place, we’d encourage the community to use the nearby playgrounds, just visit our playground map to find a play area near you.

The nearby Pantowara Street playground will be demolished as part of this upgrade. Demolition is expected to start within the next week.
