Spend Australia Day at the Lake Mac Festival
Date posted: 9 January 2017
Soak up the sun on Australia Day at this year’s Lake Mac Festival, at Speers Point Park on Thursday 26 January.
Council’s Acting Manager Community Planning, Stephen McAlister, said the Lake Mac Festival is one of the biggest days on the Lake Macquarie calendar.
“The Lake Mac Festival is always a popular day out for families,” Mr McAlister said.
“More than 20,000 people attended last year’s celebrations and with an exciting program scheduled for this year’s event, I would expect even more people to join in the fun.
“From kids’ activities to a family movie and live entertainment, there is something for everyone to enjoy.”
The Festival will start at noon with a flag raising ceremony and the movie Oddball on the big screen.
Throughout the day, there will be free kids’ activities, local entertainment and the annual Scouts Canoe Race. Special guests Pseudo Echo and Lisa Hunt will take to the stage for the evening concert, and a spectacular fireworks display will conclude the Festival at about 9pm.
Speers Point Swim Centre will also host Endless Summer Days from noon-4pm. For just $3.50 visitors can enjoy live music, aquatic floats, chill out zones and sporting games, as well as entry into the centre’s pools and toddler play area.
The Mutual is proud to sponsor the Lake Mac Festival at Speers Point Park.
“We are proud to support this community event once again,” The Mutual’s CEO, Geoffrey Seccombe, said.
“I’d encourage you to head along to Speers Point Park early to take full advantage of this wonderful family day out.”
