Established in 1890, facing Mt Sugarloaf, and set amongst native bushland, this cemetery is very popular with family historians and was the first established general cemetery in the Lake Macquarie area, having no specific religious denominations.
Plot burials in West Wallsend Cemetery are only available for existing reservations.
Ashes can be interred (buried) in family graves by a monumental mason, gravedigger or organised through a Funeral Director.
Ashes can also be installed in the niche wall with a granite plaque or in the memorial gardens, with a granite plinth.
Locked gates are installed at this cemetery to prevent further erosion of the grounds caused by vehicular access.
