Blacksmiths boat ramp

We're upgrading Blacksmiths Boat Ramp to improve access to Lake Macquarie's waterways.

Council is inviting the community to provide feedback on concept designs for the new boat ramp, which includes extended pontoons, solar lighting and mooring cleats, Flexmat scour protection and concrete retaining walls with handrails.

The existing boat ramp underwent necessary repair works in late 2023 ahead of the upcoming rebuild.

Why are we upgrading the boat ramp?

The boat ramp has reached the end of its useful life and scheduled for replacement.

Works were carried out in 2023 to keep the ramp operational while the design and approvals were completed.

 

Where is the funding coming from?

The project is being funded by$1 million from the PCIP Swansea dredging grant and the remainder from asset replacement funds.

 

What’s the expected timeline?

Construction is planned for mid-2026 outside of peak boating season.

Blacksmiths boat ramp will be closed for 5-6 months during construction.
