Updated changes for Lake Mac as NSW hits 80 per cent

From this week, additional changes come into effect across Lake Macquarie as NSW reaches the 80 per cent vaccination target, as outlined in the NSW Government's roadmap.

Community sport and Landcare volunteering across the city will resume for fully vaccinated community members.

All Council facilities continue to operate at one person per 4sqm indoors and one person per 2sqm outdoors.

Lake Macquarie Mayor Kay Fraser said the further easing of COVID-19 restrictions is another exciting step for the community.

“I can’t wait to see Lake Mac getting out and about safely, enjoying activities like sport, recreation and volunteering,” Cr Fraser said.

“Some restrictions will still be in place, so we do remind the community to follow Public Health Orders while the roadmap continues to roll out.”

Landcare Coordinator Jason Harvey said much joy will come with the return of volunteering.

“Lake Mac is built on the foundations of being a part of a community, making a difference and giving back, so volunteering is a huge part of who we are,” Mr Harvey said.

“As we start to meet again, COVIDsafe plans will be in place to help keep volunteers and our broader community safe.”

In line with the NSW Government Public Health Order, masks must be worn indoors, visitors must continue to check-in using the QR codes provided and evidence of vaccination or medical exemption is required. Capacity limits are in place at all facilities.
