Temporary changes at Awaba Community Recycling Centre

The Awaba Community Recycling Centre will be accepting limited items from Thursday 20 February due to a fire at a processing facility in Sydney.

The following items will still be accepted:

  • Comingled recyclables
  • Cardboard
  • Polystyrene (EPS) 
  • E-Waste
  • Car Batteries
  • Soft plastics

The following items will not be accepted:

  • Paints (water and oil-based)
  • Gas cylinders (no LPG cylinders from cars)
  • Fire extinguishers
  • Fluorescent light globes and tubes
  • Smoke detectors
  • X-rays
  • Motor oil and other oils
  • Aerosol cans

Residents are advised to store other household problem waste items in clearly labelled containers, in a cool dry place away from children and pets, until services are back up and running.

Lake Mac Libraries will not accept recycling items during this temporary change.

General waste disposal will still be available at the Awaba Waste Management Facility.

The planned upcoming Chemical CleanOut at Rathmines Boat Ramp has also been cancelled.
