Pedestrian footbridge at Toronto closed for public safety

Published on 25 October 2024

A routine inspection of the timber pedestrian footbridge located at Blundell Parade, Toronto identified the bridge is no longer fit for purpose and unable to be repaired. The bridge has been closed to the public as of Friday 25 October 2024.

The safety of the community was the primary concern in making this decision. We are investigating options to either replace or remove the footbridge to ensure the continued safety and convenience of residents.

Manager Asset Management Karen Partington said we understand this closure may cause some inconvenience, and we sincerely apologise.

“Our priority is to ensure the safety and well-being of our community, and we are working diligently to find a suitable solution.”

Further updates will be provided as Council progresses with its plans. In the meantime, we appreciate the community’s understanding and cooperation.
