Pedestrian footbridge at Belmont closed for public safety

Published on 07 March 2025

A routine inspection of a pedestrian footbridge located at Croudace Bay Road, Belmont identified the bridge is no longer fit for purpose and unable to be repaired. The bridge has been closed to the public as of Friday 7 March 2025.

The safety of the community was the primary concern in making this decision. We are investigating options to either replace the footbridge to ensure the continued safety and convenience of residents.

Manager Asset Management Karen Partington said we understand this closure may cause some inconvenience, and we sincerely apologise.

“Our priority is to ensure the safety and well-being of our community, and we are working diligently to find a suitable solution.”

In the meantime, residents can access an alternate pedestrian bridge on Roe Street, between Lewers Street and Belmont Crescent.
