Parenting professionals encouraged to share their wisdom
Experts in parenting are invited to connect with new and expectant mums and dads to offer support and skills during Lake Macquarie City Council’s You’re Kidding Me expo.
Lake Macquarie City Council Community Planner Children and Families Jessica Salvador said the event links families with local services, programs and resources, allowing families to access valuable advice and support.
“We recognise that when families are connected and supported in their community, they flourish,” Ms Salvador said.
“Building a strong support network lays the foundation for their child’s lifelong learning, wellbeing and future life outcomes.
“We’re asking providers to join us on the day to give advice and connect with families by offering that one-on-one advice that families don’t always have access to.”
Lake Macquarie City Council Manager Community Partnerships Andrew Bryant said the expo would go a long way in helping the more than 55,000 families that call Lake Mac home.
“Research continues to show us that the experiences children engage in during the first five years help to shape their outcomes over their entire life,” Mr Bryant said.
“This is the eighth time we’ve run the expo and, in that time, we’ve helped connect more than 2000 families to their local communities.”
Local providers who service the Lake Macquarie area are encouraged to apply to host a stall on 20 May 2022 at The Place Community Centre, Charlestown, through an online expression of interest form.
Applications close 25 March, with successful stall holders to be notified by the end of April.
