Lake Mac film fans will join over 100,000 silver screen enthusiasts around the world on Saturday 5 October when the 27th Annual Manhattan Short Film Festival screens at Warners Bay Theatre.

The festival will screen across the world throughout this week, with the Best Film and Best Actor awards determined by ballots cast by the audiences in each participating venue. All festival selections also automatically qualify for the Academy Awards.

This year’s Manhattan Short finalists hail from nine countries, including the Australlian short film, Favourites, starring Sibylla Budd and Stephen Curry, about two parents who face an impossible choice when their family camping trip turns deadly.

Other countries represented include the UK, Netherlands, Ukraine, Italy, France, Croatia, Ireland and USA, with films featuring Hollywood actors such as Zoe Saldana, Emma D’Arcy and Leo Suter.

The festival’s films represent the top selections taken from 872 submissions and 74 countries.

Saturday’s screening kicks off at 3.30pm and runs to 6pm, with a 20-minute intermission. Tickets are $15 plus booking fee.
