A natural disaster has been declared for the Lake Macquarie local government area in response to severe thunderstorms and intense rainfall that impacted the region between 15-17 January.
Lake Macquarie Mayor Adam Shultz welcomed the announcement and expressed his gratitude to the various agencies involved in the response and recovery efforts.
“Today’s announcement provides residents and businesses with access to a range of support and relief measures including disaster relief grants, loans and more through the NSW Government,” Mayor Adam said.
“I would like to thank the State and Federal Governments, the SES, Ausgrid, Hunter Water, Council staff as well as all organisations and support agencies who have worked tirelessly to support our community since the storm event.
