Sixty-seven outstanding finalists have been selected for the 2022 Lake Mac Awards, which recognise and celebrate our city’s sporting greats, accomplished artists, environmental and COVID-19 warriors, volunteers and ambassadors.

Lake Macquarie Mayor Kay Fraser said a staggering 92 individuals and groups were nominated for this year’s Lake Mac Awards, which span across 13 categories.

“It warms my heart to see so many inspiring individuals making a difference in our community and beyond,” Cr Fraser said.

“Community members and groups continue to show resilience and prosperity despite the hardships presented by COVID-19, and these awards are about giving people special recognition.”

2021 Lake Macquarie Ambassador Jonathon Power has joined the panel of judges to help determine this year’s winners.

“Taking home the 2021 Lake Macquarie Ambassador award has made me aware of all the fantastic things Council and our community are doing every day,” Mr Power said.

“This year’s nominations show how different individuals and organisations are giving back to the community and doing their part.”

Winners will be decided by a panel of judges before they’re announced at a formal gala at Belmont 16s on Saturday 30 April.

Tickets to the event can be purchased at lakemacawards2022.eventbrite.com.au.
