Festival shines light on city’s rich history

History buffs will be spoilt for choice over the next 10 days as one of the Hunter’s biggest retrospective festivals rolls out across Lake Macquarie.

History Illuminated features a diverse program of events, open days and exhibitions, starting with tonight’s headline appearance by Walkley Award-winning journalist and activist Stan Grant.

Grant will feature with author and broadcaster Clare Wright at Warners Bay Theatre, baramayiba, talking about his storied four-decade media career.

Other features of this year’s program include:

  • A History Illuminated cruise with author and journalist Scott Bevan on 6 November
  • A 2 November performance of Becoming Eliza at Warners Bay Theatre
  • A 9 November Glenrock walking tour with Uncle Amos Simon
  • Talks by acclaimed true crime authors Michael Adams and Mark Dapin at Windale Hub, bilyabayi, on 2 November
  • Walking tours around the lake showcasing the city’s history.
