Feast for the Senses returns as part of Living Smart Festival

The region’s best sustainable and seasonal produce will be on the menu when Feast for the Senses returns to Speers Point Park next month, as part of Lake Macquarie City Council’s popular Living Smart Festival.
Feast for the Senses will kick off the three-day festival, with The Wilderness Chef set to prepare a stunning three-course menu served under the stars.
The Wilderness Chef Founder and Executive Chef Cooper Thomas said Lake Macquarie holds a special place in his heart.
“I grew up in Lake Macquarie, enjoying walks around Speers Point, water sports in the bay and fishing, so cannot wait to share our passion for amazing food with guests at this event.” Mr Thomas said.
“A unique feature of our catering and private dining service is that we are able to prepare incredible, restaurant-quality food without any cooking facilities or utilities whatsoever. We will be setting up our portable Wilderness Kitchen, which we will use to cook and plate this amazing menu.
“Our team prides itself on preparing items with our own hands and hearts so you won’t find packet arancini or dried gnocchi on our menu! We will be sourcing ethical, sustainable produce for the event to align with the Feast for the Senses ethos.”
Feast for the Senses will be held at the Multi-Arts Pavilion, mima, in Speers Point Park on Friday 23 September from 6-9pm. Tickets are limited so visit eventbrite.com.au today to secure your seat at the table.
The event will also feature a pop-up bar and entertainment from Kazzie Duo.
The Living Smart Festival is one of Australia’s largest sustainability-themed annual events.
Mayor of Lake Macquarie Kay Fraser said she was pleased to see the event return in 2022 after a two-year hiatus due to COVID-19.
“The Living Smart Festival is a hugely popular feature of the annual events calendar here in Lake Mac, drawing visitors from across the Hunter Region and beyond,” Cr Fraser said.
“I can’t wait to be back at Speers Point Park as we bring our community together to celebrate and learn how we can all live more sustainably in our daily lives.”
There will be three exciting events spread across the weekend of 23-25 September – Feast for the Senses on Friday night, Living Smart Festival on Saturday and the new Living Together Festival on Sunday.
Gardening Australia host Costa Georgiadis will headline the Saturday event and deliver two workshops, ‘Sustainability in Action’ and ‘Gardening the Future’, for festivalgoers. Yoga in the park, our school garden bed competition and popular Native Plant Giveaway will also make their return.
Sunday’s Living Together Festival will celebrate multiculturalism in Lake Mac with an inspiring program featuring international cooking classes, global gardens, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture and language sessions and more.
