There have been lots of smelly surprises being left on popular shared pathways and at beaches across the city, prompting Council to remind residents to scoop their dogs' poop when out and about in the community.
We are urging the community to pick up their dog poop and not leave it to others. Dog walkers should carry bags with them at all times, to pick up what their pets leave behind. Doggy bags can easily be remembered by tying them to your pet's lead or using a collar-clipped doggy bag holder.
We have a range of beautiful shared pathways, beaches and parks in the region but there is nothing pretty about stepping in dog poo.
It is also timely to remind dog owners that if you're in a public place, dogs must always be kept on a lead except in areas marked as 'off-leash'.
