Belmont North – Telecommunications Facility

Councillors will consider approving an application to place a telecommunications facility within an existing electrical substation at 39-47 Wommara Avenue in Belmont North.

The facility aims to provide critical infrastructure to the area, giving the community and businesses improved and more reliable mobile coverage.

Public exhibition of Planning Proposal

In a bid to support the growth of Wyee’s local centre, Councillors will consider proceeding with a planning proposal to rezone 106 Wyee Road and 1496 Hue Hue Road Wyee to allow for future commercial development.

If approved, the plan will go on public exhibition for 28 days.

Purchase of land and open space

Councillors will consider the purchase a 4350m2 parcel of land at 46 Fairfax Road in Warners Bay. The land forms part of an environmental corridor which contains an endangered ecological community. If approved, the purchase will allow for better management of the site.

In addition, Councillors will debate approving the purchase of 9A Clarence Street at Wyee Point which is located within a paper subdivision known as Ramsgate Estate. The purchase aims to improve environmental outcomes and prevent conflicts arising from privately-owned land within environmental conservation areas.

Lease of Council facilities

Councillors will consider granting a five-year lease of the Lake Macquarie Croquet Centre at Glendale to the Toronto Croquet Club. The facility officially opened in April 2024 and has since been run by the Toronto Croquet Club under an interim management arrangement.

Furthermore, Councillors will consider granting a lease of the Multi-Purpose Centre at 143 Dora Street in Morisset to NovaCare Community Services.

Southlake Community Services, who previously leased the facility, was terminated on 11 January 2024 following notification of their liquidation.

NovaCare Community Services has managed the centre in the interim while Council undertook an expression of interest process for a community organisation to lease the facility.
