Operational Plan quarterly review

Council’s Operational Plan outlines the actions and projects it will undertake to achieve strategic goals for the city.

Councillors will consider adopting some amendments to the plan and variations to the 2023-2024 budget as part of its quarterly review.

Council either achieved, or was on track to achieve, 141 actions in the last quarter, representing a 95 per cent success rate in this period.

Highlights included opening the Trevor Height Athlete Testing facility at the Hunter Sports Stadium, construction progress on the Lake Macquarie Croquet Centre and a 50 per cent increase to attendance and program participation at Lake Mac Swim Centres compared to the same period last year.

Council also completed an intersection upgrade at Alton Road, Cooranbong and has engaged contractors to replace a series of bridges in Martinsville to improve safety and accessibility.

Creative outcomes included the establishment of an Australian first ‘Fab-Academy’ at Swansea, offering opportunities for people to learn advanced fabrication techniques through a 20-week program, and receiving 27 applications for three funded Lake House residencies to nationally recognised artists who will contribute public programs at Council galleries.

Wyee Point residential subdivision

Council will consider approving a development application for a one into 120 lot Torrens title subdivision at Ramsgate Estate, Wyee Point.

The site comprises 10.16 hectares of land in the eastern part of the Ramsgate Estate with lot sizes ranging from 450m2 to 874m2.

The application proposes two stages of works, with the first to provide 71 lots and the second stage comprising the remaining 49 lots.

Telecommunications facility in Argenton

Council will consider approving a development application for a telecommunications facility at 535 Lake Road, Argenton.

The site sits within an existing electrical substation between Lake Road and the main northern railway line.

The proposed facility would include a 35m monopole and square headframe, including ancillary antennas and remote radio units, ancillary infrastructure, four ground level outdoor equipment cabinets with a GPS antenna, cable trays, bird proofing, fencing and other essential servicing.

Youth Week grants 2024

Council will consider funding nine activities for a total of $10,362 as part of the Youth Week 2024 grants program.

A podcast development workshop, colour runs, art competitions, an ecological education and student science site clean-up project, youth markets and a youth fun day are among the proposals recommended for funding.

Youth Week is an annual NSW government funded program to recognise and celebrate the contribution of young people 12-24 years old.

The program is offered to all councils in NSW requiring Council to provide matching funding.

Councillor representative for NSW Australian Local Government Women’s Association annual conference

Council will consider nominating Deputy Mayor Madeline Bishop and Councillor Christine Buckley to attend the NSW ALGWA annual conference to be held in Ryde from 14-16 March 2024.
