Investment report – May 2023

Council will consider receiving and noting a report identifying all money Council has invested under section 625 of the Local Government Act 1993.

Write off rates and charges

Council will consider writing off a total of $24,126.01 from four sundry debtors as bad debts being uneconomical to pursue further.

Charlestown strategic economic centre – planning proposal and revised development control plan

Council will consider adopting the Charlestown Town Centre Area Plan, following public exhibition and associated changes stemming from submissions received.

These draft plans aim to support further growth and development of the Charlestown strategic economic centre consistent with strategic planning objectives contained in the Lake Macquarie Local Strategic Panning Statement.

Lake Macquarie Coastal Management Program

Council will consider adopting the Lake Macquarie Coastal Management Program 2023, noting issues raised during public exhibition, providing the plan to the NSW Government for certification and publishing in the Government Gazette.

The plan provides the strategic direction for the management of Lake Macquarie’s coastal zone for the next 10 years.

Event Funding Program Round One 2023-2024

Council will consider funding 26 applications for a total of $120,112 as part of the Event Funding Program Round One 2023-2024.

Run for Run DIPG, Lago di Mac, Lake Mac Run and Lake Mac Philharmonic’s Great Classics are among the 26 event applications being considered for funding.

Recommendations of the Traffic Facilities and Road Safety Committee – June 2023

Council will consider approving four recommendations from the Traffic Facilities and Road Safety Committee, encompassing:

  1. A roundabout, signage and line marking plan for a subdivision at 128 Munibung Road, Boolaroo
  2. Signage and line marking for the signalised pedestrian crossing on Stockland Drive, Glendale and the car park of the Hunter Sports Centre
  3. Installation of no stopping restrictions from 8am-9.30am and 2.30pm-4pm school days and 90 degree front to kerb parking restrictions in Nellinda Street, Awaba and
  4. Shared pathway signage and line marking associated with 
  • the middle stage of the Fernleigh Awabakal Shared Track (FAST) project
  • installation of a continuous pathway treatment at Ocean Park Road, Belmont South, with associated intersection priority signage and line marking
  • closure of part of an unused section of Green Street
  • no stopping restrictions at the proposed Arthur Street and Harry Street cul-de-sacs.

Protecting Green Point Reserve in perpetuity

Council will consider acknowledging the unique environmentally sensitive land within Green Point Reserve, investigating and providing advice on the classification of 180 Ross Street, Belmont Lot 2 as Community land, conducting further due diligence to identify land holdings within Green Point Reserve suitable to be classified as community land, and providing a memo to councillors on time frames for reclassification.
