Below are some of the items listed for discussion.

You can view the full agenda online.

Lake Macquarie Housing Forum

Council will consider a Mayoral Minute proposing a Lake Macquarie Housing Forum in early 2025.

The Forum, to be hosted by Mayor Adam Shultz, would bring together key stakeholders including affordable housing providers, not-for-profit community organisations, the development industry and government to help address the nationwide housing crisis.

Mayor Adam’s minute states affordable housing is a high priority for Lake Macquarie, and local government has a key role in increasing supply.

It suggests Lake Macquarie must primarily focus on strategic urban infill for sustainable growth and leveraging existing underutilised State Government public transport infrastructure.

Community Engagement Strategy

Council will consider adopting the revised Community Engagement Strategy and Community Participation Plan 2024-2028 following public exhibition.

The plan identifies Council’s stakeholder groups within the community and outlines when, how and why each group will be able to provide input into Council’s long-term planning and decision-making activities.

Three submissions were received during public exhibition which informed the revisions in the final strategy.

Operational Plan review

Council will consider adopting amendments to the Operational Plan 2024-2025 and budget as part of the Operational Plan review.

The Operational Plan 2024-2025 contains 130 actions. For this quarter, 95 per cent of actions, or 124 actions, are on track or have been achieved.

Traffic Facilities and Road Safety Committee

Council will consider adopting 10 recommendations from the Traffic Facilities and Road Safety Committee, including a range of line markings, parking changes and signage.
