The proposed changes include:
- Extending the West Wallsend Heritage Conservation Area to include the West Wallsend colliery and parts of Holmesville.
- Reducing the maximum building height from 10m to 8.5m in selected areas to maintain the historical character and development scale of the area.
- Revising the boundary of the West Wallsend Holmesville Heritage Precinct Area Plan to match the proposed Heritage Conservation Area and update development controls.
Property Advisory Panel Charter
Council will consider recommending a new Property Advisory Panel Charter, which would increase the frequency of set meetings, for adoption.
The panel was established to foster collaboration and innovative benefits through discussion and advice to Council on significant potential property and investment projects.
North Creek Flood Study
Council will consider recommending the North Creek Flood Study for adoption.
The objective of the flood study was to improve understanding of flood behaviour and impacts to better inform residents of flood risk.
A comprehensive public exhibition of the final draft flood study was undertaken from 26 November 2024 to 10 January 2025.
Teralba Reserve Plan of Management
Council will consider recommending Teralba Reserve Plan of Management for adoption.
The plan seeks to ensure the values and heritage of the reserve are protected, its use meets community needs and appropriate management actions are identified and implemented.
The plan provides guidance on the use and management of Teralba Cemetery and the adjacent local park and playground that constitute Teralba Reserve.
A public exhibition period was held between 11 December 2024 and 31 January 2025.
