NAIDOC Week grants

Council discussed approving $15,000 in funding for 18 events, programs and activities to celebrate 2023 NAIDOC Week in Lake Macquarie.

Lake Macquarie Deputy Mayor Cr Adam Shultz said NAIDOC week was an opportunity to recognise and celebrate the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

“This year’s theme ‘For Our Elders’ acknowledges the vital role and prominent place Elders hold in our communities,” he said.

“I am pleased to see so many schools and community organisations actively participating in this year’s event with the support of Council through the NAIDOC Week grants program.”
