Council discussed adopting the Lake Macquarie Destination Management Plan 2022-2026, amending reference to Lake Mac Ferry to be for promotion of a future service, and acknowledging submissions made during public exhibition of the plan.

Lake Macquarie Mayor Kay Fraser said the plan would support Lake Macquarie’s continued development as a major tourism destination.

“We’ve worked closely with key tourism stakeholders to create this Destination Management Plan, and I’d like to acknowledge those who contributed to the 53 submissions we received while this plan was on exhibition,” Cr Fraser said.

“Tourism brings new dollars into our local economy and this spend has a multiplier effect felt across our Lake Mac business community.

“Visitor expenditure is tipped to increase by eight per cent by 2032 to reach $583 million, and this plan will help support that growth.”
