Recommendation to advance Raffertys Resort Planning Proposal
Council recommended a planning proposal regarding tourism infrastructure opportunities at Raffertys Resort, Cams Wharf, should proceed to Gateway Determination and, if approved, public exhibition.

Recommendation to endorse draft Community Engagement Strategy on public exhibition
Council discussed endorsing the draft Community Engagement Strategy following a public exhibition period from 23 August to 20 September.
Donations request
Council discussed approving donations of:
- $2000 to ReLeaf Lake Mac for a Tiny Forest project
- $2000 to Redhead Men’s Shed for solar panel installation
- $1375 to Sugar Valley Neighbourhood Advancement Group for a fence replacement upgrade
- $2000 to South Lake Macquarie Amateur Sailing Club for National Sailing Championship 2022-2023 t-shirts
- $2000 to Windale Men’s Shed for a new website
- $2000 to Whiddon Redhead for a community Christmas day luncheon
- $2000 to Friends with Dignity for their Sanctuary Program.
Lake Macquarie Mayor Kay Fraser said if approved, the 2022-2023 Donations Program would be fully subscribed, with $40,000 delivered to benefit organisations and groups across the city this financial year.
“There was a broad range of projects proposed for this round of funding, including support for groups to assist vulnerable members of our community,” Cr Fraser said.
Council staff will request an additional $10,000 be allocated for consideration of further donation requests until 30 June 2023 at the next Operational Plan 2022-2023 and Budget Review.
20 The Boulevard, Killingworth – Proposed purchase
Council discussed the $410,000 purchase of 20 The Boulevard, Killingworth, to assist in the extension of essential services to properties within the Killingworth Paper Subdivision.
Unused section of road on O’Brien Street, Gateshead – Proposed sale
Council discussed the closure and sale of an unused section of road on O’Brien Street, Gateshead, adjoining 3 Sydney Street, Gateshead, to Lake Macquarie Private Hospital to facilitate an expansion.
