December review of the Operational Plan and Budget 2022-2023
Council adopted amendments to the Operational Plan 2022-2023, received and noted the status of Delivery Program 2022-2026 strategies and adopted variations to the 2022-2023 budget.
Hunter Sports Centre expansion
Council accepted the tender and approved the award of the contract to Grindley Constructions Pty Ltd for the Hunter Sports Centre Expansion for the amount of $42.64 million and requested the CEO prepare the budgets and financial plans to accommodate delivery of the expansion.
Investment report – November 2022 to January 2023
Council received and noted this report identifying all money Council has invested under section 625 of the Local Government Act 1993.
Review of investment policy
Council rescinded the existing Investment Policy (version 15) and adopted the amended Investment Policy (version 16).
23 Neridah Road, Belmont North – dwelling house alterations and additions
Council endorsed a development standard variation under clause 4.6 of the Lake Macquarie Local Environmental Plan 2014, providing a maximum height of 7.5m, exceeding the 5.5m development standard by 2m or 36 per cent, and approved a development application for dwelling house alterations and additions, swimming pool and garage at 23 Neridah Road, Belmont North.
Seniors housing development - Charles Street, Charlestown
Council endorsed the development standard variation under clause 4.6 of the Lake Macquarie Local Environmental Plan 2014, providing a maximum height of 24.63m, exceeding the 20m development standard by 4.63m or 23 per cent, and approved a development application for a seniors housing development, subject to conditions of consent.
2024 Local Government election – provision of election services and determination of Councillor numbers
Council will enter an election arrangement by contract for the Electoral Commissioner to administer all elections of the Council to comprise 13 Councillors, including the Mayor, following the next ordinary election.
Youth Week Grants 2023
Council approved funding nine activities/events for a total of $10,362 as part of the Youth Week 2023 grants program.
Lake Macquarie Mayor Kay Fraser said Council was always proud to support a wide spectrum of local activities as part of the national celebration of young people.
“Youth Week is a fantastic opportunity for young people in Lake Mac to be heard and act on issues facing their generation,” she said.
“It’s important we support them to express themselves as they design and engage with events and activations that reflect their values and ideas.”
Recommendations of the Traffic Facilities and Road Safety Committee – February 2023
Council approved the installation of no stopping restrictions on Reservoir Road, Glendale.
Policy positions
Council approved being briefed on external and internal services being reviewed with particular reference to legislative compliance requirements versus Lake Macquarie City Council policy positions.
