September review of the Operational Plan 2023-2024 and budget

Council adopted amendments to the Operational Plan 2023-2024 and variations to the 2023-2024 budget.  

Investment report – October 2023

Council received and noted a report identifying all money Council has invested under section 625 of the Local Government Act 1993.

Recreation facility (indoor) at 54 Cessnock Road, Sunshine

Council endorsed a development standard variation under clause 4.6 of the Lake Macquarie Local Environmental Plan 2014, providing a maximum height of 7.26m - exceeding the 5.5m development standard by 1.76m or 32 per cent - and approved development application DA/1644/2022 for recreation facility (indoor) – alterations and additions, subject to conditions of consent.

Proposed Voluntary Planning Agreement – Link Road North – Cameron Park

Council endorsed a letter of offer to enter into a Voluntary Planning Agreement between Council and Winten (No.21) Pty Ltd and placing a draft voluntary planning agreement on public exhibition.

Dual occupancy (detached) and Torrens title subdivision at 10 High Street, Redhead

Council endorsed the development standard variation under clause 4.6 of the Lake Macquarie Local Environmental Plan 2014, providing a maximum height of 10.66m - exceeding the 8.5m development standard by 2.16m, or 25 per cent - and approving a development application DA/1892/2022 for dual occupancy (detached) and Torrens title subdivision, subject to conditions of consent.

Cooranbong Community Projects Fund

Council received a report regarding the outcomes of the community engagement and assessment of options for the Cooranbong Community Projects Fund. Council supported the inclusion of identified projects in the capital works program, in priority order, up to a value of $3,860,773.

Event Funding Program Round Two 2023-2024

Council approved funding for 39 applications for a total of $89,888 as part of the Event Funding Program 2023-2024 Round Two.

Approved applications included:

  • $2000 to Wangi Lions Inc for the Dobell Festival of Art & Craft 2024
  • $1000 to Wangi Wangi RSL Sub-Branch for Anzac Day Dawn Service
  • $1000 to Swansea RSL Sub Branch for Anzac Day March and Service
  • $500 to Swansea Belmont Surf Life Saving Club for the Swansea Belmont Hit Out Series 2
  • $2400 to Little Athletics NSW for the State Combined Carnival 2024
  • $1000 to RSL NSW Cardiff Sub-Branch for the 2024 Cardiff Anzac Day Dawn Service
  • $1000 to Rathmines Catalina Association for Rathmines Anzac Day
  • $1000 to Belmont Chapter of RSL NSW Cardiff Sub-Branch for the 2024 Belmont Anzac Day Service
  • $5000 to Browse Events for the Lake Macquarie Kids Day Out 2024

Recommendations of the Traffic Facilities and Road Safety Committee - November 2023

Council approved the following recommendations from the Traffic Facilities and Road Safety Committee:

  • the signage and line marking plan associated with an industrial subdivision at 170 Gimberts Road, Morisset
  • the roundabout, raised pedestrian crossings and associated signage and line marking at Bridge Street, Morisset
  • the signage and line marking plan associated with the road rehabilitation of South Parade, Blackalls Park
  • the installation of no stopping restrictions on O’Brien Street, Gateshead
  • construction plans for a subdivision at the southern end of Dulungra Avenue and Camberwarra Drive, Belmont North
  • the raised pedestrian crossings, right turn lane and associated signage and line marking of a subdivision at Watagan Park Estate, Cooranbong
  • the removal of no stopping restrictions (8am-9.30am, 2.30pm-4pm school days) in Ridley Street and the extension of no stopping restrictions (8am-9.30am, 2.30pm-4pm school days) in Crest Avenue, Edgeworth
  • the installation of timed no stopping restrictions and the extension of the bus zone in Beach Road, Wangi Wangi
  • and the installation of a 12m, 15-minute parking area on Bulls Garden Road, Whitebridge across from 150 Bulls Garden Road, Whitebridge.
