Adoption of Local Approvals Policy

Council rescinded the existing Local Approvals Policy and will adopt a new draft version subject to approval from the Office of Local Government. Council also rescinded the existing Occupation and Movable Dwellings on Land Policy and Footway Dining Policy, and will formalise the VibrantSCENE program by incorporating measures in the Local Approvals Policy.

Review of Council Policy – Control of Open Burning

Council rescinded the existing Control of Open Burning Policy and adopted a revised version.

East Ward site inspection – Blacksmiths Beach

Council will write to Transport for NSW requesting sand spoil material sources from emergency dredging works in Swansea Channel be used for beach nourishment purposes on the southern portions of Blacksmiths Beach. Council will also investigate options for improved dune vegetation management along the section of beach south of the surf club, as well as options for improved signage to warn beach users of hazards posed by venomous snakes.

North Ward site inspection – Kahibah Oval

Council received and noted a report on drainage at Kahibah Oval following a North Ward site inspection.

Council site inspection: 36 Macquarie and 1 Walter streets, Belmont – Residential flat building and commercial premises

Council approved development application DA/2863/2021 for a residential flat building and commercial premises at 36 Macquarie and 1 Walter streets, Belmont, subject to conditions of consent.

Notice of Motion: Beam e-bikes

Council will receive monthly reporting in relation to trip data, safety incidents and problem resolutions for the Lake Macquarie micro-mobility trial. Council will also receive minutes from local working group meetings and request that Councillors receive a standing invitation to attend these meetings.

2022 NSW Public Libraries Association Annual Conference

Council received and noted an information report from Councillor Madeline Bishop following her attendance at the 2022 NSW Public Libraries Association Annual Conference.

2022 National Local Roads and Transport Congress

Council received and noted an information report from Councillors David Belcher and Colin Grigg following their attendance at the 2022 National Local Roads and Transport Congress.

Audit, Risk and Improvement Committee

Council received and noted an information report following the November meeting of the Audit, Risk and Improvement Committee.
