Lake Macquarie City Council will begin to welcome customers back to many of its facilities from Monday 11 October, in line with the NSW Government's roadmap for the easing of COVID-19 restrictions.

Lake Mac Libraries, arts and cultural facilities, holiday parks, indoor pools, community halls and Council’s customer service centre are among the facilities to reopen from next week.

Lake Macquarie Mayor Kay Fraser said the roadmap for the easing of COVID-19 restrictions would help keep the community safe.

“We are excited to be able to open our doors from Monday however we must not get complacent despite eased restrictions,” CR Fraser said.

Lake Mac Holiday Parks Coordinator Garry Ellem said the reopening would be an exciting step towards normality once again for the Lake Mac community.

“We can’t wait to see our wonderful facilities being used and enjoyed, especially as we head into the warmer holiday season,” Mr Ellem said.

“Some restrictions will still be in place, so we do remind the community to follow public health orders while the roadmap rolls out.”

All Lake Mac Libraries will reopen from Monday 11 October with temporary changes to operating hours. The temporary click and collect service will end as libraries reopen, however online resources are available at library.lakemac.com.au for those unable to attend in person.

The Museum of Art and Culture yapang (MAC), including the new Three Bears Cafe, will open from Tuesday 12 October with art classes, events and programming to resume in the coming weeks. Online activities will continue to be available at mac.lakemac.com.au.

Lake Mac Holiday Parks will welcome vaccinated residents from regional NSW, and anyone from the Lake Macquarie LGA regardless of their vaccination status from Monday 11 October.

Rathmines and Warners Bay theatres will also reopen their doors for ticketed events. Bookings are essential.

SEEN@Swansea will remain temporarily closed, and is expected to reopen in the coming weeks.

Lake Mac Swim Centres will reopen to vaccinated swimmers, however temporary operating arrangements are in place. Squad swimming and aqua classes will resume at some centres from Monday. Check Council’s website for any booking requirements.

Council’s Customer Service Centre at Speers Point will reopen for face-to-face services from 9am-4.30pm. Bookings are required by calling 4921 0333.

In line with the NSW Government Public Health Order, masks must be worn indoors, visitors must check-in using the QR codes provided and evidence of vaccination or medical exemption is required upon entry. Capacity limits are in place at all facilities.
