Lake Macquarie musicians, bands and live music venues are being urged to register and get involved in a new Lake Mac Live and Local program.

To kick off the program, an Industry Forum facilitated by the Federally funded Live Music Office will be held on Monday 14 October, 6-9pm at Warners Bay Theatre, baramayiba.

Live and Local is open to all Lake Mac locals, from emerging bands, to established musicians as well as live music venues or any business interested in programming music in the region.

Participants will be encouraged to share ideas on how to activate venues and spaces, parks and streetscapes across Lake Mac.

Live and Local will also include the establishment of a Lake Macquarie Creative Business Directory, linking local musicians and venues to help connect, program and book local live music.

Lake Macquarie City Council Manager Arts, Culture and Tourism Jacqui Hemsley said Live and Local was a great initiative to support local musicians.

“The Lake Macquarie Live and Local program is designed to showcase, support and celebrate the unique mix of local musicians and bands in our region,” she said.

“It’s also an opportunity to further activate local performance spaces and help us develop better regulation and strategic policy for live music in Lake Mac.”

Council invites anyone interested to register at for the forum and/or new Creative Buusiness Directory at arts.lakemac.com.au.

Live and Local is presented by Lake Macquarie City Council in partnership with the Live Music Office and APRA AMCOS.
