Sanne Mestrom, Lady of the Lake2023

The reclining sculpture by nationally renowned sculptor Sanne Mestrom is a Public Art work commission by Lake Macquarie Council. Sanne’s work has been shown at the National Gallery of Australia, Tarrawarra Biennial, The Museum of Contemporary Art Sydney and the Art Gallery of New South Wales, where her work has recently been acquired. Her works and academic research are about public art that are designed to be climbed to encourage play in public space.

Susan Milne and Greg Stonehouse, Chimera

Stainless steel.

Chimera, created by Susan Milne and Greg Stonehouse, is deeply connected to the environment and celebrates the significant achievements and legacy of the Lake Macquarie Improvement Project.

A 12m high tower is topped with a stainless-steel wind vane, adorned with there reflective sails and hundreds of steel scales. It is reminiscent of some of lake Macquarie's most prominent features: boats, birds and fish.

Holly Macdonald, Hunter Deafblind Connect, In Touch with Community, 2023

See stars thrive without sight and sound.

Hunter region ceramic artist Holly Macdonald worked with Hunter Deafblind Connect to create a tactile public art project that was installed at Speers Point Park (all abilities playground) to celebrate the diverse Deafblind community for Deafblind Awareness Week in 2023.

The installation was completed with support from Lake Macquarie Council, the Community Disability Alliance Hunter (CDAH) with funding from Deafblind Information Australia.
