The newly installed reclining sculpture by nationally renowned sculptor Sanne Mestrom is Lake Macquarie Councils newest Public Art commission. Sanne’s work has been shown at the National Gallery of Australia, Tarrawarra Biennial, The Museum of Contemporary Art Sydney and the Art Gallery of New South Wales, where her work has recently been acquired. Her works and academic research are about public art that are designed to be climbed to encourage play in public space.

Chimera, created by Susan Milne and Greg Stonehouse, is deeply connected to the environment and celebrates the significant achievements and legacy of the Lake Macquarie Improvement Project.
A 12m high tower is topped with a stainless-steel wind vane, adorned with there reflective sails and hundreds of steel scales. It is reminiscent of some of lake Macquarie's most prominent features: boats, birds and fish.
