A world of adventure waits for children this summer, with Lake Macquarie now home to more than 110 playgrounds.

From hanging upside down on monkey bars, getting lost in giant webs and captaining an on-land pirate ship – kids are bound to have tonnes of fun at some of the Hunter’s most extravagant playgrounds.  

Lake Macquarie Variety Playground at Speers Point Park is an award-winning all-abilities playground, catering to everyone with full fencing, inclusive play equipment, a quiet zone, accessible pathways, toilets, parking and an MLAK key accessible changing place.

Meanwhile an epic 12-metre climbing tower paired with a double flying fox is destined to keep kids entertained for hours on end.

An all-accessible and recreational area for the little ones is Morisset’s Bernie Goodwin Oval Playground where you can find a lookout tower, liberty swings, climbing nets and roundabouts to keep the kids amused.

As crowds flock Redhead this summer, Webb Park provides an ideal play stop for kids. The park is home to an exhilarating wave slide, flying fox, small swings and a nearby barbecue for lunch to be cooked up later.

Pasterfield Playground in Cameron Park is an interactive adventure-zone surrounded by netball and basketball courts, AFL and cricket grounds and a skatepark. There’s xylophones and drums to bang on, not to mention the plethora of swinging and climbing activities.

Get the kids ready to walk the plank at Thomas H Halton Park in Croudace Bay. The pirate themed park is filled with timber forts, a musical and water play area, swings and spinning activities for kids who love a tummy flip.

Blackalls Park Playground
is the perfect place for a quiet lunch picnic. Great for smaller children, the park is home to toddler swings, easy to climb play equipment, connecting slide, and a seesaw for the siblings to bounce on.

Tingara Heights Playground is a unique setting with designated stations for individual play, this playground is perfect for roaming and climbing. The playground hosts a small slide, see-saw, baby and toddler swings and a unique climbing structure.
