The Wholesome Collective is changing lives one meal at a time, by providing healthy nutrition and cooking services to those in need.

Co-founders Kerryn and Mary started the mobile business in 2015,  travelling by van to vulnerable communities around the state and encouraging healthy eating habits.

“We go beyond just handing out healthy meals by hosting presentations that teach cooking skills and what healthy nutrition is,” Kerryn said.

“We believe this creates long lasting change within these communities and improves the physical and mental health of our clients.”

Over the past eight years, the team has worked with more than 7,500 people.

Helping those who need it most, the team has spent time in drought, fire and flood affected areas across NSW.

Locally, The Wholesome Collective has multiple programs for socially isolated aged residents, people living with disability, parents, young people finding their way and children.

The organisation has also published a cookbook called ‘Cook, Eat & Enjoy’ and created a magnetic meal planner to help people create budget friendly and healthy meals as part of their commitment to long term education.

Kerryn and Mary’s incredible work was highlighted at the 2023 Lake Macquarie Business Excellence Awards, where they won the People’s Choice Award.

“To have the recognition at the event and to gain that kudos was extremely rewarding,” Mary said.

“Because we don’t have a bricks and mortar building to showcase our brand and who we are, we rely on awards to use as part of our continual search for funding.”

A lifetime resident of Lake Mac, Kerryn couldn’t imagine establishing a business anywhere else.

“With my husband, Nigel, we are raising three kids here,” she said.

“I love jogging on the beautiful trails and tracks, Nigel and I enjoy surfing at the local beaches and we use every park available to entertain our kids.”

Looking forward, The Wholesome Collective is looking forward to building on their relationships with people in NSW communities through grants and community funded projects.
