Authority to act on a rate account

As a ratepayer, you can give permission for a person or organisation to access information about your rates account.

Use this form to authorise a person or organisation to access information about your rates account.

Once authorised, they can make enquiries and receive and exchange personal and financial information related to the rate account for the property, including:

  • receive information on outstanding balances 
  • confirm payment arrangements
  • receive current rates notices (fees may apply)
  • change the postal address of rates notices
Nominated authorities will not have access to rate owners' online rate payment information accounts, or direct debits.
 
Upon the death of the rate owner all Power of Attorneys and Financial Management Orders, automatically cease, and the Executor of your Will becomes responsible for carrying out your wishes.

To be authorised to complete this form you must be either:

  • The property owner
  • The Director, if the property is owned by a company
  • The Trustee, if the property is owned by a Trust
  • The Power of Attorney
  • The Executor

Step 2.Gather you information

To give permission for someone else to access your rates account, you will need to gather the following information:

  • The property address the application will apply to
  • Rates assessment number
  • Property owners' names as appears on the rate account
  • Copy of either the Power of Attorney, Court, Tribunal, Guardianship, or Administrative Order, or a copy of the Will for the Executor to be effective.
