Reuse Hunter

Hunter Circular Knowledge Hub – ReUse Hunter Community Map

ReUse Hunter is a mapping tool connecting the community to circular businesses who provide a service to repair, hire, donate, refurbish, or buy second hand within their own LGA and across the broader Hunter region.

Designed by the Hunter Joint Organisation and funded by the NSW Environment Protection Authority (EPA), ReUse Hunter was developed to help community members re-use or repair products to minimise waste and keep valuable products in circulation.

Local councils are grappling with mounting waste volumes while striving to meet ambitious state and national waste reduction targets and dealing with changing community expectations on waste services.

At a community level there have been numerous campaigns raising awareness about the relationship between consumption and waste.

However, these have not provided the necessary tools for direct engagement with solutions, limiting their effectiveness in reducing waste generation.

While several initiatives have demonstrated localised success, they remain constrained in scope, reaching only a fraction of the population of the region and achieving limited broader impact.

ReUse Hunter has been developed to provide a whole of region approach to the circular economy, allowing community members to add their favourite businesses and business owners a platform to promote their businesses to like-minded people.

Whether you’re looking to fix an old bike, donate furniture, or shop for preloved fashion, ReUse Hunter will help you locate a circular business in your area. With businesses across the Hunter region, you can find services close to home that contribute to the circular economy and even save you money.

If you own a circular business—whether it’s repairing, refurbishing, or renting out items – you can easily add your business to the map and connect with customers who care about sustainability. Or, you can add your own favourite businesses so that others can connect with the growing community of circular services.
