Training - Supporting LGBTQ+ clients who are victim-survivors of SA

The Newcastle DV Committee invites DFV workers to attend a one day training with Hamish Whelan (he/they), the Sexual Violence Consult Service Lead at ACON Health, to strengthening service provision in supporting LGBTQ+ clients who are victim-survivors of sexual violence.

LGBTQ+ people can face unique stigmas, discrimination and barriers to disclosing sexual violence.

This training will cover barriers to reporting, gendered drivers of violence, case studies and real stories, evidence and research on sexual violence, pathways to reporting, helpful support methods and more.

Date: Wednesday 21 July
Time: 9:30am-4:30pm - please arrive 15 minutes early.
Where: Level 2, Training Room - 437 Hunter Street, Newcastle 2300
Cost: $12.50 for catering - Lunch, morning and afternoon tea will be provided.
