HIPPY (Home Interaction Program for Parents and Youngsters) is a FREE 2 year early childhood learning and enrichment program that prepares children 2 years before they school. HIPPY provides storybooks, activity packs and a tutor who meets with you weekly/fortnightly. Tutors support parents to engage their children in ‘everywhere learning’ - whilst shopping, walking, and even during meal time routines. The uniqueness of HIPPY is that they provide a tutor for the parent, as they believe parents are a child's first teacher. HIPPY runs monthly gatherings on Thursdays for families with activities such as messy play, nature play, craft, music, cultural events and guest speakers around early childhood and parenting. HIPPY also runs super fun holiday events such as discos, colour runs, educational experiences, and many more fun activities that are FREE. HIPPY also offers employment opportunities for parents who are wanting to go back to work. This is offered to families who are currently enrolled, enrolling in 2024 or who have previously completed HIPPY in the last year. HIPPY recruits 2 new tutors each year on a 2 year contract who work closely with the coordinator to develop skills that help prepare them for other job opportunities.
