Next date: Friday, 13 December 2024 | 06:00 PM to 06:20 PM
Choreographed and performed by proud Kamilaroi woman Cleo Doyle and her dance group from St Paul’s Catholic College Booragul, Ochre is a dance of storytelling that honours the naturally occurring earth pigment significant to Aboriginal culture for thousands of years.
Ochre is a gift from the land, a token of love, identity, expression of healing, a connection to ancestors and reminds us of a sponge which soaks up the earth’s history for Aboriginal people to wear with pride and perform.
The dance Ochre, honours the movement of Aboriginal people on this land, carrying forward the knowledge passed down to us while blending our own journeys as this group is also performed by non-Aboriginal dancers.
